Before people think I'm nuts - I do have some pictures taken from my vantage point. I was just wondering if anyone else, apart form me and the neighbours, saw the string of bright red lights over Northwich, from 8.50 pm 'till 9pm on the evening of the 27th. We were viewing from Lostock - and they appeared to be over Wincham / Northwich for most of that time - arriving from (I guess) the Budworth area. They were in the sky for a good ten minutes and were impressive to see.

There was little or no noise and they certainly were not planes or helicopters (living here you get to know what they look like from every angle).

If you magnify the pictures a lot, one of the red ones is a square surrounded by a fuzzy redness, and the ones that are whitish all appear to have a crucifix shape in them!!

i reckon by the looks of your pics on flickr they are them lanterns you buy light a wick on them then they go off like hot air ballons

hhhmmmmm........they remind me of them rock sweets you used to beable to buy a thousand years ago.......similar lights were seen round Bristol about 2 months ago and in Cheshire a few weeks back.

I keep getting "not allowed url / links" when typing a direct link - so click onto flickr dot com, type " cheshirefinds " into the search box, this will return no results, however above the results box is a tab to check for people, click this and it will take you to two pictures.
